To celebrate UK Black Pride our BAME/PoC Engagement Officer, Ravi Sharma, spoke with 3 of our members about what Black Pride means to them, the importance of being connected to the LGBTQ+ community in later life and advice for future generations. The interviews were very inspiring and we're happy to share it with our members and supporters to spark conversations around intergenerational support and representation.

We also partnered with UK Black Pride for two events:

  • New Ambassador to ODL, Marc Thompson, hosts a conversation with ODL Volunteers Nsanza and Annyah who share their experiences supporting ODL members during Covid - Live Friday 2nd July at 3:15pm
  • Josh Rivers, of podcast Busy Being Black, talks to Jeffrey Pickering looking at early memories of Pride and our LGBTQ+ community - Live Friday 2nd July at 4:50pm

So we can help reduce isolation for LGBTQ+ people over 50 from BAME/PoC communities, we have launched an appeal and we're hoping to reach 15k to fund our LGBTQ+ BAME/PoC engagement and outreach service. You can can contribute here.
